Lupo's has been bringing live music to Providence, RI for almost 30 years. Before Lupo's, Providence played second fiddle to Boston and Hartford on many artists' tour schedules, but since 1975, the venue and its staff have succeeded in establishing Providence as a required stop on any touring circuit. Rich with student life and a burgeoning culture, Providence is marked by a mixed bag of musical inclinations, which Lupo's faithfully reflects in its diverse lineups night after night. After occupying its original location for years, in 2004 the club relocated from "Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel" to a new space now known as "Lupo's at the Strand," which is a beautifully restored art deco theatre and includes a balcony with sofas and tables. Continually underscoring its reputation for booking the best bands on the road, Lupo's has earned its status as one of the best live music venues around. The following bands played at Lupo's since it opened in 1975: Better Than Ezra, Frank Black and the Catholics, Blind Melon, James Brown, Counting Crows, Goldfinger, Buddy Guy, Ben Harper, Hootie and the Blowfish, Kilgore, Kittie, Korn, Let's Go Bowling, Jerry Lee Lewis, Living Color, Little Feat, Meat Loaf, Dave Matthews Band, moe, Roy Orbison, the Pilfers, Pixies, Pretenders, Ramones, Little Richard, Leon Russell, Sister Hazel, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, Vertical Horizon and Bob Weir.
