Broadcasting live from the 3800-seat Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, the Louisiana Hayride went on the air on radio station KWKH in 1948. That August, a still-struggling Hank Williams came up from Alabama to join a mostly-locals cast topped by the Bailes Brothers and Johnnie and Jack with Kitty Wells.
