Biography

Katy Rose grew up quick in Los Angeles, the daughter of session keyboardist Kim Bullard and a backup singer mother. She began to write songs in her early teens, blending traditional adolescent angst over boys and social drama with a fashionably jaded cynicism perfect for the youth-skewed climate of 21st century pop culture. The 16-year-old Rose debuted in early 2004 with Because I Can (V2), an ambitious record that drew freely and cleverly from elements as disparate as radio-ready light alternative and new garage grit.
