  • We Say...

This album is guaranteed to bring you slow kisses under the tree, with songs from Isaac Hayes, Rufus Thomas, Albert King and Mack Rice, who informs us that "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'."

  • They Say...

It's Christmas Time Again compiles 12 entertaining, bluesy, and funky holiday songs by Isaac Hayes, the Staple Singers, Albert King, and others. Fans of the Stax catalog will note that some of these songs have appeared elsewhere, including various volumes of the massive The Complete Stax/Volt Soul Singles series. This is a solid, unified holiday album offering some hot tracks that will raise the temperature of any holiday gathering. Standout tracks include Mack Rice's "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'" and Rufus Thomas' "I'll Be Your Santa Baby'," both of which are adult, sexy numbers. Thanks to Stax for pulling these classics together from across disparate albums. (The disc's only downside is its short running time of just over 40 minutes.) No Christmas collection is complete without this offering.
