They Say...
As the title of Dem's Good Beeble indicates, the debut album of the Austin-based cowpunk outfit the Gourds is a little bit too kitschy for their own good. But if you can get past that off-putting sense of humor, you'll find that the band has an endearingly ramshackle attack that makes their ragged country-rock ingratiating. Still, Dem's Good Beeble makes the Gourds sound like they might be better in a local bar than on record.
