He is, after all, pretty much the father of this whole shebang. Taj's restless explorations have taken him through all kinds of music for four decades now, but his forte remains his startling country blues interpretations. These performances, heavy on old standbys from the Delta and other folk traditions, prove it. With his deft, always precise instrumental work and his knowing vocals, he continues to make the old sound warm and fresh.
