  • They Say...

For VelVel's A Christmas to Remember, the label rounded up a number of their artists to write original tunes and licensed favorite songs from other labels to create an adult alternative holiday album. It's a very specific audience and possibly one that's not particularly receptive to holiday albums, but with its low-key ambience and rootsy vibes, A Christmas to Remember may change thier minds. Like nearly every various-artists collection, there are a number of weak moments, but they're outweighed by worthy entries, from Health & Happiness Show's "Jesus Christ" and the Smithereens' "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" to Jill Sobule's "The Saddest Day of the Year," which makes the disc a worthwhile listen for adult alternative fans.
